People ask us: “which political party supports Rejoin?” Once the Tory Brexiters are no longer a threat, the answer will be: all of them.
People say: “Labour doesn’t support it.” Look, Labour (and Lib Dem) hesitancy about rejoining was not born out of conviction but calculations about swing constituencies. A Tory collapse completely changes the maths.
Stay European has been at the heart of pushing for Rejoin:
- We are one of the groups organising the National Rejoin March, which will launch the Rejoin campaign on 22 October. From the alliances built we hope to become part of a longer term Rejoin project.
- We are currently producing new materials putting the arguments for Rejoin clearly and succinctly, and a major digital project giving a voice to personal experiences of Brexit.
- We don’t hide our aims behind vague talk of “closer relationships” – we argue it is important to go out now and start building support for Rejoin.
We have spoken about Rejoin being a long campaign. It still won’t happen overnight. But we feel, genuinely, that it is coming sooner than we thought.
This is the moment to start building up the Rejoin campaign, ready to persuade the next government. To do it, we need you: |
