Attack on Johnson’s handling of the crisis comes as Grant Shapps heralds tentative signs of stablisation

There have been “tentative signs” that pressure on filling stations is beginning to ease, transport secretary Grant Shapps has claimed, while acknowledging that it may take time to have an impact on queues.

On Tuesday Shapps said there was more petrol in the filling stations, although he acknowledged it would not have an immediate impact on the queues for fuel.
