I campaigned in the high street (in our town in southern England) with others, handing out information leaflets and asking people whether they were in favour of Brexit or not. What really surprised me was the reactions of the older locals, a lot of them who had fought in Europe in the Second World War with soldiers of nationalities ranging from French to Dutch and Irish. They were adamant that the UK should support Brexit and come out of the EU. Younger people who saw us in the street were more positive about joining the EU and travelling abroad to learn or work in other countries.
